What are we Indians famous for?
The Darjeeling tea?
The famous Taj Mahal?
Amitabh Bachchan?
Our prolific work force?
The famous ZERO?

Our crab mentality?[wait...wait..continue reading now..]
Okay, I think not all of you random and expected readers are familiar with the concept of crab mentality,and even if you do for some godforsaken reasons , I shall type in.
Ever noticed how the fisher-man(oh crab-man?) brings those crabs?
In an open pot, or box.
A crab could quite easily crawl out, and vault off the edge,which never happens.
Whenever a crab finds it way out(much like the way Tenzing Norgay did...) other crabs tend to pull it back into the pot.
Finally all of them end up huddling in boiling water.
Sad but true, we human beings act much like these crabs.
Its not an Indian quality, but a basic human negativity.
Just read a blog about a few crabs pulling down a 10-pointer crab.
We see, MP crabs pulling down the PM crab.
We see, member crabs pulling down the Leader crabs.
We see, member crabs pulling down the Leader crabs.
We see, beginner crabs pulling down the Pro crabs.
We see,poor crabs pulling down the rich crabs...so and so...
The up-shot of crab mentality is 'getting-cooked-up' of all the crabs.

This is what happens here. When you discourage someone off something, you kill yourself in the same.And no wonder education here sucks, even though we've instis like IITs and IIScs... No wonder how great a Gandhi we have/had, our democracy still sucks.
At least some day we try to "GROW and LET GROW".
Before dumping this post that way, I would stoke up on a few issues,Why or from where this crab mentality shows its ugly head?
We'll we human beings are just imitators,bloody imitators.

Even stuffs we tag creative, are nothing but an array earlier learning put up in a new manner, nothing more.
These qualities are injected to someone right from their childhood.

Competition.
We tell the kids to "top" on their classes, to win over their 'enemies'(friends *phew*)
Our education system from LKG till Graduate via Entrance(OH!!) and the boards is virtually a test of how "CRABBY" you are(not un-exceptionally, but still..).
But I doubt why it is called the Indian mentality, when it is fundamental human 'quality'. Its not human, but a fundamental quality of any being on earth , that justifies the "Only the fittest will SURVIVE" theory.
I believe when we out grow this mentality and justify the "Weakest shall NOT PERISH" theory, we become Homo sapien, or the 'Wise man'.That's the very basic idea of Social Evolution.
But for the time being I would say, "0 hopes, sorry"...
